To use the Gibraltar firewall you need a valid activation license. Gibraltar will not run correctly without this. It will not be possible to access the Web based configuration tool and no routing will be done by Gibraltar.
Because Gibraltar uses many open source components and we want to contribute to the community, activation licences for the proprietary tools are free for private users.
What do I need to use Gibraltar?
Gibraltar is an operating system and an application at the same time. So you need the following components for Gibraltar at least:
- Gibraltar Software: Download as an ISO image is free.
- Gibraltar license file: Must be purchased. Free for private users.
- Compatible hardware: Best would be a Gibraltar Security Appliance, but a standard PC will also do.
- Optional: License for virus scan powered by Kaspersky Labs and/or License for Gibraltar Webfilter powered by PureSight.
