With the Gibraltar VPN Gateway, it is possible to establish secure and encrypted private connections over potentially insecure networks like the Internet. There are two different types of VPN connections:

• Permanent connection of two or more networks using VPN tunnels (IPSec). These tunnels are established between different VPN servers. The resulting connections are totally transparent to the users and it is possible to integrate several physically separated into one logical network.
• Secure connection of client computers (e.g. sales force) to the internal network using L2TP/IPSec or PPTP VPN connections. By the use of VPN connections it is possible to grant secure access to internal network resources (e.g. application server) for remote users.

Gibraltar can act as a VPN remote station for all common VPN products like Cisco, Watchguard, Checkpoint and Fortigate. Gibraltar supports all approved encryption algorithms (AES, 3DES, Blowfish, Twofish, CAST, Serpent) and it is possible to use both PSK (Public Shared Keys) and X.509 certificates for authentication.

Simple Remote Access

Administrators are able to choose between several possibilities for remote connection. It is both possible to use the built in PPTP and L2TP client in Windows 2000/XP and every IPSec compatible VPN client software. We recommend TheGreenbow VPN Client, which is totally tested with Gibraltar and proved to be compatible.
